The protagonist and several other people manage to escape from the scene of the accident, before it happens, but are later killed in a series of bizarre accidents that frequently resemble Rube Goldberg machines in their complexity. All five films center around a protagonist that has a premonition of a terrible mass-casualty accident that will kill numerous people, including themselves and the other characters. It is based on an unproduced spec script by Jeffrey Reddick, originally written for the X-Files television series, and was distributed by New Line Cinema.
